In this week's BTC we see that the FFIEC has released guidance regarding outsourcing functions to the cloud ("Regulators Warn Banks of Risk from Cloud Services"). While this guidance is much appreciated, it continues to validate that cloud providers need just as much attention as any other outsourced provider. The interesting point about the comments in this guidance is that they believe cloud providers will be less educated on the regulatory requirements for banking institutions. It's an interesting assumption--especially since non-cloud vendors are still being educated on regulatory requirements...
