Banking Technology Connections: August 7, 2012

In this week's articles, we see how India is suffering from some horrific power outages (see article "India had a major blackout"). Immediately we started thinking about vendor management programs. Risk Assessments need to be fluid enough to handle changes in the environment. Based on early reports, it appears that the power struggles in India will not be just a short-term problem. India will need significant time to upgrade the infrastructure to accommodate the population's needs.
If you or any of your vendors are outsourcing to India, your vendor management program should be updated to address this recently identified threat. Do your backup plans ensure that if the power issues continue or get worse, efficient transition to another vendor or solution is possible?
