Wolf & Company Heads to Haiti to Support Be Like Brit

On October 17th six employees from Wolf & Company will be setting forth on a life changing trip to Haiti in support of the Be Like Brit Foundation.  This wonderful organization was founded by the family of Britney Gengel, a 19-year-old who lost her life in the catastrophic earthquakes of 2010 while volunteering in Haiti with her college.  During her time in the country, Britney was overwhelmed not only by the poverty that surrounded her, but even more so by the love that she received from all of the children she was helping at the orphanage.  Prior to the devastating earthquakes that would ultimately claim her life, Britney sent the following text message to her mother:

“They love us so much and everyone is so happy.  They love what they have and they work so hard to get nowhere, yet they are all so appreciative.  I want to move here and start an orphanage myself.”

Sadly Britney was never able to follow through on that promise herself, but her family made sure that her charitable spirit lived on.  Only a few short years after Britney’s death, the Be Like Brit Foundation built a 19,000 sq. ft earthquake proof orphanage in Grand Goave, Haiti – the town where Brit was supposed to travel to the day after the earthquake.  Today, this orphanage houses 66 boys and girls and is helping to raise the next generation of leaders in Haiti.

Our group will be spending seven days not only helping to build a home in the community of Grand Goave, but also spending time connecting with the children at the nearby orphanage. The Wolf team is comprised of Scott Baranowski, Hillary Burr, Jerry Gagne, Stephen King, Dan Morrill and Mark O’Connell.  Their efforts will no doubt have a lasting impact on the community which they are serving, just as this experience will have a profound impact on all of their lives.
